FRVR decided to take the Krunker IP to the next level with a Battle Royale twist, teaming up with Discord to make it happen. As Lead Game Designer, I was in charge of everything from concept to release. I defined the scope, mechanics, gameplay, and weapon balance, while also overseeing UI/UX design, 2D and 3D art, and map creation. Basically, I was the person making sure the chaos was fun and not just… chaos. The process involved a lot of prototyping, feedback sessions with Discord, and figuring out how to make a Battle Royale that felt fresh for Krunker fans. The Alpha launch brought in thousands of players, and their feedback helped us add features like a new map, weapon overhauls, a pin system, and revive mechanics. Oh, and we threw in a scrap and crafting system because who doesn’t love turning junk into something shiny? By the time *Krunker Royale* launched in November 2023, we had LiveOps running, a seasonal content roadmap ready, and some pretty wild stats: 15% average D1 retention (peaking at 28%), 72,585 DAU on average (maxing out at 210,132), and 1.4 million registered users. Not bad for a game where you can get sniped while looting a crate.
